Changes in a person’s life with autism can be very difficult and moving is one of those major changes. Things are out of place, the layout is different, their room is different and the street and people around them are different. All of these things can be very daunting to a person with special needs. This book talks about moving to a new home, knowing that your things are still there and that you are safe. It goes on to discuss the changes you may see and how you can handle them as well as showing them that they have not lost the things that they had before. By providing the person with a way of expressing their feeling and fears they can make the transition of moving a much easier event for everyone involved.

Each item is handmade and then made into a PDF file (Adobe Reader File) so you can use this file and make as many copies as you would like.

What is a Social Story

Social Story Books are tools for teaching social skills to children with autism and related disabilities. Social stories provide an individual with accurate information about those situations they may find difficult or confusing. Each situation is described in detail and focus is given to key points: the important social cues, the events and reactions the individual might expect to occur in the situation, the actions and reactions that might be expected of them, and why. The goal of our stories; to increase the individual’s understanding, make them more comfortable, and suggest some appropriate responses for the situation in question.
